Dangers of Fentanyl - Hosted by Piper USD 203 & KCKPD

8-2022 Diaz Fentanyl Talk at Turner.jpg

The FREE presentation aims to raise awareness about the dangers of fentanyl, its impact in our community and how we can work together to combat this deadly epidemic.

Who should attend? Everyone. Communities need to come together to address the issue because it affects everyone. The illegal manufacture and sale of fentanyl has triggered an overdose epidemic nationwide and here in KCK among all genders, races and age groups. That in turn has negatively impacted our families, communities and healthcare systems. Capt. Diaz will discuss the facts about fentanyl; how it is being sold in our community; the ways in which law enforcement is combatting its trafficking; and what we all can do to protect ourselves and our loved ones. His direct, no-nonsense approach to the topic is impactful and appropriate for all ages.

Capt. Diaz is a 15-year veteran of the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department. He has worked in KCKPD's patrol, community policing, motorcycle and gang units. In 2016 he was named as a FBI training field officer, and in 2020 became commander of the Violent Crimes Task Force, overseeing the narcotics unit. Capt. Diaz has a bachelor's degree in organized leadership, and is a knowledgeable and authoritative voice on the fentanyl epidemic.

If you have information regarding the sale of fentanyl or any illegal drug in KCK, please call our 24-Hour Narcotics Hotline at 913-573-6287 and leave a message or email us at narcotics@kckpd.org. As always, your safety is of utmost importance; you may remain anonymous.
