Internal Affairs

The KCKPD Internal Affairs Unit reviews and investigates complaints regarding its employees, as well as employees of the Unified Government. Their mission is to protect the public, the employee, and the Department through fair, thorough, and impartial investigations of alleged misconduct.

Our first and highest priority is the safety and welfare of the people who live, work, and play in Kansas City, Kansas, and the men and women who protect them. We will maintain the highest ethical standards to ensure positive interactions and the continued trust and support from our community.

Your feedback is essential to make that happen. Good service deserves to be recognized. If you received exceptional attention from one of our officers or staff, we encourage you to share that with us as well.

There are several way to file a complaint:

In Person

The Internal Affairs office is located on the 5th floor, Room 505, of City Hall at 701 N. 7th St. Kansas City, Kansas. It is open from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, except holidays.

The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department strives to strives to provide professional, ethical, and courteous police services to our community. The Internal Affairs Unit was established for the purpose of investigating allegations of improper conduct by members of the Department as well employees of the Unified Government. Every citizen has the right to file a complaint.
