Outdoor Video Camera.jpg

The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department is inviting residents and businesses to register their security cameras to the Connect KCK, a community security camera registry. This registry provides a valuable tool for officers and detectives investigating crimes, while also maintaining your personal privacy.

When an incident is reported, police officers will use the registry to see if private security cameras in the area may have captured images/footage that could help solve the crime. Participation is voluntary and easily withdrawn at any time with notification.

Why participate?

  • Assist Police: This is one more way residents can assist police as they investigate crimes.
  • Deter Crime: Publicizing programs like this puts criminals on notice that the community and police are working together to address crime which can make them rethink their actions.
  • Protect Our Community: When residents work with police it strengthens COMMUNITY TIES (Transparency, Integrity, Engagement & Safety) and moves us forward in our effort to make KCK one of the safest places to live in the metro.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the camera registry work?

The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department camera registry is a way to easily locate the nearest cameras in a designated area during the course of an investigation, emergency event, or emergency response. In the past, investigators had to rely on eyewitnesses and piece together pertinent information over days and sometimes months. The camera registry gives private residents and business owners the ability to register their cameras to an online portal, only accessible through permission, for law enforcement to quickly and easily use cameras to create a map of relevant cameras that could obtain actionable evidence for crimes and life-saving data.

How much does it cost to register my cameras?

Registering a camera does not require any cost or additional hardware.
