  • Animal abuse and cruelty encompasses behavior harmful to animals from neglect to malicious killing. Most abuse investigations can be resolved through education as they often involve unintentional neglect.
  • Intentional cruelty, or abuse, is knowingly depriving an animal of food, water, shelter or veterinary care or malicious torturing, maiming, mutilating, or killing an animal.

Both types of allegations can be criminally charged misdemeanors or felonies.

If you suspect abuse or cruelty, please report it now. Here is how. 

Online

If you are reporting an emergency situation such as an animal bite, injured animal, or aggressive animal needing immediate response, call 911.

If an animal is in immediate danger, such as a dog locked in a hot car, please call 911.

Step 1.Know It When You See It

Animal abuse and cruelty can be intentional and unintentional. 

Make a report if you see conditions like these: 

  • No access to food, water or shelter 
  • No access to vet care 
  • Subject to malicious torture, maiming, mutilation or death 
  • Keeping of wild or exotic animals

Step 2.Gather Information

These types of items will be useful when making a report. 

  • Date & Time 
  • Location 
  • Description of the Animal 
  • Pictures associated with the incident
  • Names of persons involved in or witnesses to the abuse
