Our department provides emergency services to the community of Kansas City, Kansas, which spans approximately 125 square miles with over 330 sworn officers serving a population of approximately 150,000 citizens and 10 million visitors per year.

Chief Michael York started as the Interim Chief of the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department on September 12, 2019. Chief York has served with the KCK Police Department since 1992. He has been assigned in a large variety of roles including patrol, VICE, Detective Bureau, and Internal Affairs. Chief York had previously served as the Deputy Chief of Police in KCK since March of 2017.
